I’m checkin’ out! PLAID, that is! 😉
In lieu of it being my favorite day of the week – FASHION FRIDAY, I decided to “CHECK IT OUT” and share some “PLAID PLAY” with you all. Here’s the thing, I have a few different thoughts on plaids in general. For starters, I’m not truly a huge fan, but I enjoy challenging myself to create and think outside of the box from time to time.
Thoughts on my attempt in doing so here?!?!
Actually, I just had a second thought about plaid as I was writing, and it kind of feels like I’m having a slight change of heart, lol. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m pleased with how this look actually turned out or what, but I’m digging plaid a little more. Sure, it’s always been tolerable, but like all good things, a little plaid can certainly go a long way. Everything in moderation!
Pro tip: add a plaid/checked blazer in your wardrobe. You can easily pair it casually with denim for a business-casual look. For a dressier look, pair with a nice pair of trousers! Either way, it can add the “pop”you might be missing!
With attempts to give this plaid look some personality, and knowing that you not dare catch me wearing plaid from head to toe, unless I put my little twist on it. The upside of plaid is that it’s surprisingly easy to wear, until paired wrong; that’s when it makes you look borderline 20 years older. The key to having a good plaid outfit is clever curating and accessorizing. Similar to leopard print, playing with plaid is best with a one-hit piece and/or a piece to make a subtle statement. I recommend novice wearers starting with a socks or scarf, then working your way up to a simple checked blazer or outwear piece of some sort.
Here’s hoping you gain a little inspo that just might help you create your next plaid look. Don’t be afraid to plaid play and have fun. Remember, the goal is to always be confident and feel good wearing your outfits!
Peace and Forever Blessings,
