The most insightful book in the world, in my opinion is undoubtedly the BIBLE. There is so so so much wisdom bestowed upon us, its unreal. I stumbled upon Proverbs 4:23-27 the other day randomly, but I guess it was not all that random because it was a concept I needed to grasp again. It says, “Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.”
MY INTERPRETATION is as follows: “AS IMPERFECT HUMAN BEINGS, WE NEED TO GUARD OUR HEARTS. ANYONE CAN EASILY TELL US, PROMISE US, AND WANT US TO BELIEVE EVERY SINGLE THING HE OR SHE SAYS!!” But the reality is, we mustn’t be so gullible and believe everything. I try and live by making a believer out of everyone. In other words, instead of saying this or saying that, I’ll show you this AND that. For example, I’ve proven myself but merely by accomplishing and not talking or promising.
It’s my belief that we fail the hardest in guarding our hearts in regards to love, loving, and being in love. Perhaps it is because love is the ultimate paradox, and by that I mean it either eventually dies or decays, there is pain and suffering, tears and heartaches. OR, there is joy, happiness, energy, and eternal youth. We mustn’t forget that even the most perfect guy or girl isn’t entirely perfect, he or she encompasses some imperfection and because of that, it is safe to say that mistakes will be made and disappointments will happen. So, keep a guarded heart! Seems like a reasonable solution, right?
